Here are some thoughts which I’m not blaming on one party in particular but things I might consider:

1) I’m still annoyed that electricity prices have been allowed to go the way they have, it’s a necessity and usually the less money you earn or have the more costly a house you need to live in because it’s not energy efficient at all.

The solar idea may have been a good one, the government would have basically put in another power station with all these installations but probably at the cost to those who can’t afford to own a house and therefore have to pay higher bills and not benefit from rebates. I know people getting credits on their bills but these are only really available to home owners. So it’s almost like those worse off are paying for those better off to have cheaper bills.

It doesn’t seem right.

But if you are a home owner I totally don’t blame you for getting it, it’s either get it and reduce your bill or do nothing and increase it.

2) Carbon tax. Another tricky debate. I don’t think it’s anywhere near as simple as saying we’ll start with something like cars. If you drive a car you should pay a carbon tax, if you drive an older car you should pay more.

This will hit exactly the same people as above, especially those who must have a car to get to their job that isn’t accessible by public transport and are struggling to make ends meet anyway.

3) Boat people. Don’t get me started on boat people!! No that’s a total joke. I’m not sure where I stand on this, which may sound stupid, but there are a lot of people who need our help and it needs to be handled better, I just don’t know where you draw the line… If that sounds harsh it’s not meant to be, I just don’t know if you put limitations on it, with exceptions of course, or what…

I’m the first to admit though that I probably don’t know enough about these issues yet so will continue to check them out.

Just some thoughts…

I’ve like being with 3, but can’t use their internet outside of Sydney so am hoping to go with Vodafone as the plan we’re looking at getting will give us free calls to all 3 and vodafone mobiles and 1.5GB of data a month so we will use our mobiles as modems. And as Nat and I will both switch this will be enough for our home use.

But so far it’s beena bit of a headache, I ordered last Friday and have made a few phone calls since, and spent hours on hold, to see where it’s all at and today they still can’t find my order.

Thinking back the order did a weird thing or two when trying to submit, but I did get an order confirmation.

Supposedly they’re looking into it.

I have a plan to start saying more and more negative things about them on twitter as the days pass, I’ll start with hash tagging them but then may move to @mentioning them… I’m surprised some companies listen when you start to do this so I’m hoping vodafone will be the same.

So I’m not off to the best start… but hoping it gets better if I can actually ever get to switch to them…

So we haven’t completely sorted the issue yet as we’re still with stupid Hostso, maybe we’ll pass the hat around at some point and then switch over to a more awesome web host. But for now things have settled down and we’re back online so let’s get into this…

By the way Dicker, do I need to point your attention to the blog count in the categories section, I’m number one now buddy!! Maybe one day I’ll be number one for useful and interesting content, but for now I’ll take the win based purely on number of blog posts…

The Google Lunar X PRIZE is a $30 million international competition to safely land a robot on the surface of the Moon, travel 500 meters over the lunar surface, and send images and data back to the Earth. Teams must be at least 90% privately funded and must be registered to compete by December 31, 2010. The first team to land on the Moon and complete the mission objectives will be awarded $20 million; the full first prize is available until December 31, 2012. After that date, the first prize will drop to $15 million. The second team to do so will be awarded $5 million. Another $5 million will awarded in bonus prizes. The final deadline for winning the prize is December 31, 2014.
