In tribute to the new leader of the free world…

Peter

Seriously though, how do you think the world is going to be different over the next couple of years? Will ‘hostile’ countries be more inclined to just have a chat, instead of returning the angry rhetoric?

Or will they see the Americans as ‘weak’ now that they have a ‘leftie’ (compared to his opponents)president?

We live in interesting times…

I’m very excited about Obama being president. I don’t actually know what that’s going to mean in real terms… but just as long as Mcain and Palin didn’t get in…
Surely it can only get better now that Bush is going? Did I hear that he has the lowest approval rating ever (25%)? He started 2 wars which he can’t finish, he wrecked the US economy and has introduced a recession… nice one! I wonder how he feels knowing that his country is now worse off for his leadership…?
Obama could make all his decisions by shaking a magic 8 ball and do a better a job.

I realise that this is probably a bit of nothing, but I’m letting myself get pleased about the fact that it looks like the world is settling down a little bit:

But it seems that Russia is pretty keen to see just how soft and squishy Obama really is:

I’m also disappointed that what we thought about Palin was actually (allegedly) true:

I kind of didn’t want to believe that she could actually be as dumb as she appeared to be. I’m the same with George Dubbya – I just don’t want to believe that someone as ignorant and foolish could possibly get elected (twice!) to be leader of one of the most powerful and influential countries in the world. I want to believe that it was just media spin, and they’ve caught them (Bush and Palin) in bad moments (that we all have), and broadcast them.

But I’m finding it much harder to be optimistic about that as time goes on.

Oh well – bring on the generation of softies (Kev and Obie). Let’s see how they perform in the long term.
