The Olympics are Here!!
I love it!! Sitting here at 12:55am waiting for Australia to walk in and I can’t wait for the sport to start!!
So the opening ceremony in good, and actually there was some really impressive stuff take place tonight, but I think the best thing about it is that it means very soon all the sport will start!!
I’m really excited to watch sports that I don’t watch all that often outside the Olympics.
I also have a video projector for the weekend and after setting it up to watch the opening ceremony it will stay set up all weekend to watch the sport!

I don’t want to be a bit of a party poopter… but I’m a bit unimpressed with the Olympics these days…
Hopefully I’ll get into it more over the next 2 weeks but….
I rate the drums at the start of the openning ceremony but I think that they over did the whole paper motif…
where was the fried ice cream i ask?
Where was the beef and black bean?
And I didn’t see one chop stick!
Boring.

I understand what you say about the opening ceremony, I’m not the biggest fan of it, except that it signals the beginning of 2 weeks if nearly enough sport on free to air TV.
I love watching the sports I don’t normally get to, actually it’s more than just the sport, but I’m not about to write an essay about why I like it.
In regards to the ceremony, I agree, the paper motif was overdone, drums were awesome, the ‘Oarmen’ were good, puppets were average, and they lacked what the world knows about the real China, eg. chopsticks and beef & black bean as mentioned…
What about the 2 weeks of sport, surely that’s a good thing??

The thing about the Olympics is that suddenly people become ‘experts’ on sports that they haven’t given a crap about for the past 4 years, and argue about how they think they could have done better with their own special strategy…

I love the rent-a-crowd in the background. Can someone tell the Chinese that we invented media managed events.
This Olympics would be so funny if only it wasnt so sick with salivating corporate interests slobbering all over basic human rights and any semblance of decency. $$$$$$$$$$$$UX
