Wow!

I’m still amazed how the humble sandwich press is able to turn a seemingly meagre cheese & tomato sandwich into a full and tasty meal!
I make a sandwich. I put it in the press. light turns green. Cheese melts. Tomato is hot. Hey presto! It’s not a sandwich it’s dinner!

I’m with you here, but…
A lot of the times I crave it done the old fashioned way, not over a fire, but rather in the sandwhich makers that press them into 2 triangles and make the edges crispy and the cheese that overflows tast fantastic, and the centreline, my goodness that tastes good!!
But I no longer own one of those machines…

We have one of those too but the handle is broken… it still works though. I like the crispy edges.

Ours became a burnt offering at Care & Share!

I love having the triangle ones but with left over spaghetti mince or burettio sauce with the cheese of course.
Using this type of filling does not work so well on the open press – too much mess to clean up.
Might go and have one now

I totally agree Richard…bolagnese all the way with a bit of cheese for good measure!
My mum used to use these types of sandwich makers (breville irons I think she calls them) with puff pastry sheets, apples and some brown sugar to make very quick desserts!

They make me think of camping, on the last day you just put all the leftover food on the jaffle iron and see what happens…
