Reflection on industrial estate church…
Well here’s a bit more reflection on the “industrial estate church” up in Byron…
On the blog Pete made a comment that got me thinking… Pete said:
“I hope that they can give God glory in the context that they’re in.”
And I think they were… well I’m sure they were.
I think the issue for me is that their style of church service didn’t connect with me because I’m happy with the style of church service that I’m familiar with. This is good because the church that I go to connects with me (and I hope with others too!) but I guess the danger is being so pleased with the familiar that I am judgmental about church services which are unfamiliar…
I’m ashamed to admit it but… I think I detect that hint of judgmentalism and arrogance within myself.
I thank God that at least I have recognised it now and by his grace pray that I might not fall victim to pride lest I give the Devil a foothold.
There is my confession and my prayer.

Well done mate. That’s a very good attitude you’ve got going on there.
I hope that you (and I) can give God glory in our contexts also… as long as His word is being preached, and His name being given glory, who are we to whinge about how it’s happening… I think Bonhoeffer would have something to say about that…
