I’m glad I finally got to see the pumpkins…

Dicker

…well i actually went and saw the Pumpkins back in 1998 (I think), but that show doesn’t count because they were in their boring ava ‘adore rock ballad kina phase and they didn’t play much rock…

However this time I saw them at the V Festival in Centennial Park (an early birthday present from James) and the Pumpkins went off!All the good ol’ hits from Siamese dream, Melancholy, and a couple from the new ‘Zeitgeist’ (which I knew) and it was rock all the way. I could’ve been 16 again. They had the classic Pumpkin sound and everything you’d want from a top rock band – although Billy was wearing a dress… but hey… you know… maybe he’s got Scottish roots…?

image008.jpgThe rest of the festival was so, so. The Jesus and Mary Chain, and Queens of the Stone Age rocked out pretty hard, although for the first time ever the sound wasn’t loud enough… or though maybe I’m still deaf from the ultra loud Cure concert…? But I don’t think the festival had enough speakers on the main stage. I’m not Dr Sound or anything, but even if more speakers don’t improve the sound, it at least looks louder.

Overall, it was pretty good. Nice location, some free stuff, and good sunshine. I really would’ve liked to sit there and read the weekend paper had i he presence of mind to bring one in with me, but it’s probably not a good look, reading a broad sheet at a music festival… But for me, I was really just there to see the Pumpkins and I wish i had made a shirt with that slogan on it before I went: “I’m just here to see the Pumpkins.”

The photos seem to cover half the text in this post. Is that just on my screen, or is it when everyone views it?

    …and back on topic:

I got a text message from a friend the night before the V festival offering a free ticket, but didn’t notice it for an hour or so (phone on silent). By the time I replied, the ticket was gone…

mmmmm… it looks fine on my screen…

I wouldn’t beat yourself up about missing it. The festival wasn’t anything really special, just the pumpkins… Missing the pumpkins is worth beating yourself up about.

The photo of james covers half of the other photo, and also covers most of the paragraph after ‘scottish roots’…

Consider myself well beaten up for missing the Pumpkins.

It looks fine on the mac, but it does look weird on our PC desktop too… you can probably fix it if you go to “edit”. If i do anything with it on the mac it’ll probably just look the same…
